Not unlike what Blood dragon did a while back, the Deadpool game brings back to the surface that which made video games so great 10 to 20 years ago, From subtle nods to beloved franchises like TMNT and Transformers (another of High Moon's recent games) to the old 8 bit style of gameplay and a "secret level" that you have to access by jumping into a drain pipe (wink wink, nudge nudge). Deadpool shines in the fact that it doesn't try to re-invent the wheel but rather have fun detaching it from the cart and throwing it down the hill with c4 attached to it and see what will happen. This game is another example that the people over at high Moon Studios get it, they get what made things fun 20+ years ago and they have found a way to make it happen again in this time period. Playing through levels that essentially have no point to the story to a difficult final boss fight that pulls the rug out from under you are exactly what Deadpool is all about. Things aren't supposed to make sense, and trust me they don't BUT they do so in a most hilarious and potty humour kind of way. The fact of the matter is this is a trip inside Deadpool's psychosis and the ride is well worth the ticket price. I finished the game yesterday morning after just a couple of casual play sessions so i would say about 4 to 6 hours depending on skill. The replay value is in picking a different choice in the few moments where the game asks you to make a choice although sometimes not picking anything and driving Deadpool nuts in the process is probably the best part. because yes Deadpool is very well aware that you are there behind him pushing his buttons so expect to be given flack for your lack of skill and getting him killed a lot. I really hope they have some DLC planned down the pipe because I have a feeling they will find a way to make that experience just as weird and wacky as the core game is.

As Wookie says, as long as you enjoy the mere concept of the Deadpool character, and don't mind so much potty humor that your mental plumbing might get clogged, it's a game worth every minute of playing.
