PlayStation 4 - At first glance

Can't believe that I'm the first to have one and write a review on it.
By no means will the be a detailed review.
Okay so here goes, lets start with the un-boxing.

First thing I notice was the size difference from the PS3, this thing is small. You can tell Sony has even put some thought in the boxing of their system as all items were well placed and had no room to move around, very well done. The PS4 is also light, at 2.5kg that's less then a gaming laptop, big plus for me as I might actually be able to just put it in my laptop bag when I go out of town for work.

The finish on it is a thing a beauty, even the wife commented on how nice it looked and would like to see it displayed and not hidden like all my other consoles in the pass.

Setting it up was child play. Power cord and a HDMI both provided, power cord is not interchangeable with the PS3, plus an optical cable for my sound system and I was ready to play.

So the big moment came, POWER UP.
The first power up takes what feels like forever, you have to do a system update first before being able to play any games. But no big as this update is already on the system jut have to install it and reboot.

The UI is something different from playstation, I must say that I like this format much more then the PS3, seems more fluid might just be the novelty of it. It does function much better the the PS3 when in game, moving from game to UI and back is a dream...

As for online well I haven't done the 1.5 update yet. I just wanted to see how the system worked and play some campaign play of Shadow Fall, have to say the graphics are nice.

Well that's all for wow, fatherhood is calling.

Once you get a chance to delve a little deeper into the thing, it would be awesome if you could give us old gene owners an idea of the way the thing works, IE: how registering on it works, does it absolutely require a facebook account, how does the share function work, what is and isn't available for non PS-plus members, etc...

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I find it fast, slick and easy to use. I don't have crackbook so that is useless to me, but i am a huge twitter fan. Easy to post stuff from game to twitter and nice to be able to to do anything, from change settings to use the store, it saves your place in game. The phone app is awesome, able to turn off/on from your cell, easy to sync. System is also voice activated. The flat thumb sticks takes a bit to get use to them, but easy to manipulate.

that would be BF4, Killzone Shadow Fall, and AC IV.

Thanks for the review. What games do I see in the background there?
